Who we are

The short version
- No analytics, no advertising, no cookies, no tracking pixels and no other trackers.
- The Founders form is a preview right now. It checks your entries in your browser and sends and stores nothing.
- Two outside services see your visit: Cloudflare, which hosts the site, and Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces.
Hosting: Cloudflare
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which serves it as static files through Cloudflare Workers. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information about each request, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We have not turned on Cloudflare Web Analytics or any other analytics. Cloudflare handles this information under its own privacy policy.
Fonts: Google Fonts
The site's typefaces load from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). When your browser fetches them, Google receives your IP address and basic browser information, as it would for any web request. Google handles this under its own privacy policy. Google Fonts does not set cookies.
Cookies, pixels and trackers
This site sets no cookies and does not store anything in your browser's storage. It has no analytics, advertising or social-media pixels, and no embedded maps or videos that could track you. If we ever want to add any of these, we'll update this policy first and ask for your consent before anything non-essential loads.
The Founders form
Today: the form is not connected. When you submit it, your entries are checked in your browser and nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. The page says so when you submit.
When it is connected (we'll update this policy before that happens), it will collect:
- your name and email address;
- your phone number, only if you give it;
- what you're interested in (a lot, a seasonal site, or not sure yet), and how you heard about us, if you say;
- a record of your email consent: the date and time, and the wording you agreed to.
We'll use this only to send you news about 51 North (approvals, field notes and, if there is one, a Founders offer) and, if you gave a number, to call you about it. We will not sell it. We'll name the service provider that stores it here once it's chosen. [CONFIRM PROVIDER AND WHERE IT STORES DATA]
Email and consent (CASL)
We'll email you only if you tick the consent box, which is never pre-ticked. Every email will identify us as the sender, include our mailing address, and have a working unsubscribe link. Unsubscribe requests will be processed within 10 business days.
If you email us
If you write to us, we'll use what you send only to reply and to keep a record of the conversation.
How long we keep it
Once the form is connected, we'll keep Founders List information while the list is active and for [RETENTION PERIOD] afterwards, or until you ask us to delete it. We keep consent records as long as needed to show we had consent.
Your rights
Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) applies to us, and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) applies where information crosses provincial or national borders. Under them you can:
- ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy;
- ask us to correct it;
- withdraw your consent, including by unsubscribing from any email, and ask us to delete your information;
- complain to us, and if you're not satisfied, to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
